The Eternal Masquerade

This scholarly examination of the prints and paintings of Gerald Leslie Brockhurst (1890-1978) accompanied the exhibition of the same name at the Georgia Museum of Art from August 12-October 8, 2006 and contains many, many full-color illustrations. Divided into three sections, the book delves into the relationship among Brockhurst's paintings of his two wives, his portraits of society men and women, and his artistic influences, which included Renaissance and Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood painters. Ray also discusses how Brockhurst fit into the modern art scene at the time, including the world of Hollywood glamour photography.
